Job Title: Load Planner & Lead Dispatcher

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Load Planner & Lead Dispatcher to run the day-to-day operations of our aggregate truck hauling fleet. This is a leadership position that combines strategic load planning, dispatching, driver management, safety compliance, and close coordination with sales, plants, and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

Load Planning & Dispatching

Build and optimize daily load plans and driver schedules to maximize asset utilization and on-time delivery

Work directly with customers to book deliveries

Cover or back up ticket window as needed

Fleet & Maintenance Coordination

 Partner with Maintenance Manager to prioritize repairs, schedule PMs, and minimize downtime

Track daily driver vehicle inspection reports (DVIRs) and repair requests

Driver Management & Safety

• Lead safety training, driver meetings, and toolbox talks

• Enforce PPE, company policies and DOT regulations

• Handle driver coaching, disciplinary action, and conflict resolution

• Recruit and retain qualified drivers as needed

Reporting & Administration

Track, execute, and own the Trucking Department’s annual goals and operating plan

Deliver daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports to senior leadership

Assist with end-of-day closeout (credit card, cash, COD reconciliation) when needed

Maintain accurate records for driver files and compliance

Other

Step in and perform any other duties assigned by the Aggregate Business Manager, VP, or company officers

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum 5+ years of trucking dispatch, load planning, or fleet management experience (aggregate/hauling experience strongly preferred)

Proven leadership skills – able to lead, motivate, and hold a team of drivers accountable

Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours-of-Service, ELDs, and driver safety/compliance

Proficient with trucking software, Excel, and general office programs

Experience or working knowledge of aggregate materials and end-dump / dump trailer operations

Outstanding customer service and communication skills (phone, email, and in-person)

Ability to work early mornings, split shifts if needed, and remain on-call for urgent issues
